Mailbag Question: Which Court Reporting School Should I Choose?

mailbag.jpgQuestion From A Court Reporting Agency's Mail Bag:

I am in the process of choosing a court reporting school and would like to know if you have any advice, or recommendation for the Orange County area. My concern is whether a city college or private school is preferred by agencies and courts and any other advice you are willing to provide is greatly appreciated. Sincerely, ### ###

My advice for choosing a court reporting school within the Orange County area is South Coast College http://www.southcoastcollege.com. This is a school run by a very passionate person, Jean Gonzalez. Jean has integrity and has been a long-term advocate for court reporting. I know of no better court reporting school in Southern California than South Coast College.

As far as whether agencies care which school you went to... While I cannot speak for other agencies, I know that I absolutely do not care one bit about which school you attended. I do care about you being a professional person with a valid CSR license, but basically how you get there is not really a concern of mine. Additionally, the number of the times you spend at the CSR exam is also of little importance! (I personally took the test three times before passing.) Once you are licensed, please check out the reasons why you should consider my court reporting agency to take jobs for. Read this article.

Good luck and call me with any other questions you might have!
