What do you do when things go well? What if your boss's response to this whole issue of requesting for a raise turns out in your favor?

Simple as that.
But many times a manager's response is more tentative. They may say they need time to think about it. What is your response going to be then?
What you say: Thank you.
Be sure to keep a positive attitude even though the suspense may be killing you. Saying a simple thank you for their consideration is good. In addition, you need to fuel the fire by asking the following question to spur things along: What other information do you think would be helpful in making your decision?
