Public Service Announcement: Your Brain On Steno

Who can forget back in 1987 the PSA campaign This Is Your Brain On Drugs series? The original PSA depicted a guy holding an egg, This is your brain. He then grabs a frying pan and says, This is drugs. He cracks the egg into the frying pan and it starts to sizzle, This is your brain on drugs. Any questions?

Any student of court reporting or court reporter professional will tell you about the effects of stenography on your brain. When I was in school going through theory -- the boot camp of learning to type on the steno machine -- I ate, drank and slept that stuff. I had dreams about typing my way through mountains of letters, papers and documents. Ok, that's a little weird, I know.

Funny! 20 yr reporter and I still have dreams where I’m in the courtroom w/out my machine and I’m having to take everything down in longhand and can’t (as you can well imagine) keep up but I keep trying and trying. Usually wake up in a cold sweat after one of those!
